Senior Back-End Developer

A U.S-based company on a mission to motivate and assist their clients in looking their best is looking for a Senior PHP Back-End Developer. The selected candidate will be responsible for contributing to projects ranging from customer-facing features to internal team tools and the underlying infrastructure. The company enables customers to design and purchase custom-tailored clothing for men online. This will be a long-term, full-time role that requires 4+ hours of overlap with the PST time zone. The company has managed to raise $100k in funding.

Job Responsibilities:

• Create new software while refactoring current software
• Work on a variety of projects such as customer-facing features, internal team tools, and underlying infrastructure
• Work with the freedom and encouragement to make decisions that will influence the organization’s accomplishments
• Communicate well with team members, clients, and other collaborators

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a software developer
• 5+ years of experience with PHP and JS (jQuery/VueJS)
• Proficiency in relational databases (SQL) and manipulating queries to work with large requests 
• Knowledge of third-party APIs, such as Stripe, Paypal, SendGrid
• Experience developing custom SOAP and REST APIs
• Familiar with popular AWS services and expertise in LAMP
• Passionate and up to date on the latest web technologies, tools, and techniques
• Experience working at a startup or scaleup
• Experience working on an e-commerce site used by millions of users is a plus
• Experience with Redis or MongoDB is nice to have
• Experience with Docker or a container-based architecture is a plus
• Experience with Node and Node NPM manager is nice to have
• Experience with task runners (Webpack/Gulp/Grunt) is preferable
• Experience with CSS pre/post-processing (SCSS, LESS, PostCSS) is a plus
• Expert with Git and agile DevOps experience is nice to have
• Experience making complex back-end architecture design choices is preferable
• Experience building APIs and microservices is nice to have
• Experience with Composer is preferable
• Excellent English communication and organization skills
• Good attention to detail, be hardworking, and have a positive and growth mindset
