Job description

A US-based company building an online marketplace that provides users with a wide variety of organic food products, is looking for a Senior Back-End Platform Developer. The selected candidate will be in charge of performing activities like code review and validation, architectural review, and code deployment. The company enables customers to purchase high-quality goods in a cost-efficient manner that will be palatable to customized dietary restrictions. The company has managed to successfully raise $200mn+ in funding so far. This position requires 4+ hours of overlap with the PST time zone. 

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create REST and JSON API services for new customer experiences
  • Deconstruct existing services into scalable microservices wherever asked
  • Create services that scale horizontally and provide low uniform latency by leveraging the appropriate tools (languages, databases, serverless, distributed streaming, etc)
  • Build speed and reliability into the development process while implementing test-driven development 
  • Incorporate meaningful metrics into new services and functionality and advocate for them
  • Troubleshoot issues and restore functionality with cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with the product team to come up with game-changing ideas for customers
  • Initiate discussions about architectural and code design decisions

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3-5+ years of relevant experience as a software developer
  • Must have experience in Java or Python
  • Must have experience in AWS and Microservices
  • Expertise working with distributed systems is required
  • Familiarity with PHP and Magento is nice to have
