Job description

A rapidly-growing company on a mission to help distribute intelligence at the speed of conversation by bundling authoritative data with visualization templates and tools, is looking for a Full-Stack Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for designing and developing fully functional products while overcoming scalability issues. The company is building an embeddable visualization platform that helps journalists, creators, and brands infuse their storytelling with data at the speed of conversation and breaking news. This will be a long-term role that requires at least 4+ hours overlap with the PST time zone.

Job Responsibilities:

Collectivise authoritative data with visualization templates to expand interactive visualization library
Build documented, well-maintained codes to support new types of visualizations
Work closely with the company founders to build a cohesive product, and refine the software architecture
Comprehensively add support for more chart types to cater to a wide variety of data
Improve the editor interface and provide customers with more customization options
Enhance the web experience by making it easier to surf across the data catalog
Suggest new chart embed types for social media and video editing
Embed visualizations on different Content Management Systems
Improve the oEmbed Wordpress workflow
Build a CMS plug-in framework and deploy django application on ECS
Build a robust production environment on AWS, backed by Terraform
Monitor for usage patterns and anomalies using CloudWatch/Prometheus/Grafana
Build a secure development environment that lowers risk of production outage
Configure linters, unit tests, CI pipelines, tree shaking
Automatically initiate and deploy builds on GitHub
Adopt Typescript and help collect datasets at scale
Develop a systematic way to monitor pipelines that extract and transform datasets
Create stacks to simplify the process of gathering datasets
Build interfaces to assist internal staff to save datasets
Hone skills by participating in system design and code reviews

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a full-stack engineer
Extensive experience in D3.js, React, and Python
Nice to have experience in AWS/Terraform, Django, Typescript
Ability to take ownership of the task(s) and split responsibilities according to skillsets
