Job description

A U.S.-based company that is using technology and AI to provide top-notch personalized education to learners across the country, is looking for a Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Developer. The developer will be using Rails to help with a number of outdated dependencies. The company offers interactive learning tools, adaptive tests, and live online classrooms for supplementary learning and enhancement. The company has managed to secure close to $105mn during their Series C round of funding. This position requires 6+ hours of overlap with the EST/PST time zone. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ascertain that systems are protected from cybersecurity threats
  • Start using Rails right away for the following six months
  • Assist in modifying and automating the monolith.
  • Utilize Kafka for messaging and AWS Lambda for computing
  • Adopt GraphQL and work with a more SPA-oriented React
  • Investigate and handle a complicated set of business needs
  • Help the team to decouple the monolith

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a full-stack developer
  • Extensive experience working with Ruby on Rails 
  • Prior knowledge of Golang
  • Nice to have some experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, and Python
  • Some knowledge of AWS Lambda, GraphQL, and Kafka is preferred
  • Willingness to embrace Go and React in the future
  • Great collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
