Job description

A U.S.-based company that is linings local communities and gardeners to create a more resilient and local food system, is looking for a Full-Stack Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for updating and testing code for the latest versions including Firebase, React, Node.js, and dependencies. The company is leveraging advanced technology that will enhance and support the current mobile apps and web app to effectively address the issues of surplus garden produce and food scarcity. Job Responsibilities:

  • Work on updating/maintaining code repositories
  • Update the Webapp dependencies that require upgrading
  • Ensure that the 3 repositories are upgraded with the latest versions and dependencies updated, tested, and deployed
  • Upgrade Node.js 12 to the newest stable version 
  • Replace class components with functional components in React Native
  • Share progress as well as block issues with team members
  • Migrate Firebase from version 8 to 9
  • Learn the current code/systems quickly
  • Update outdated dependencies in the React Native, Webapp, and Firebase app
  • Before sending the project to the organization for final/acceptance testing, perform manual testing
  • Verify that the present app continues to function properly by testing before publishing subsequent versions on the app stores
  • Before concentrating more extensively on feature development, contribute to maintenance-related, higher-priority projects

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a full-stack engineer
  • 4+ years of experience working on React with Redux for Web
  • At least 4+ years of experience working on React Native with Redux for iOS, Android, and Node.js
  • Prior experience working with Google Cloud and Firebase hosting for the API
  • Prior experience swiftly picking up new information and building on prior work 
  • Capable of predicting scope and time
  • Solid development standards documentation expertise to ensure the code base is preserved and may be used by other developers in the future
  • Must be an independent self-starter
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
