Job description

A health-tech firm that streamlines administration processes to help reduce healthcare costs and complexity is looking for a Full-Stack Developer. The selected candidate will be assisting the existing team of talented developers in implementing security and data protection solutions. The software intends to give patients control over their health care by allowing them to compare pricing for medical bills across hospitals before deciding to seek treatment. So far, the company has managed to raise $5 mn+ in funding. This will be a full-time, long-term role that requires some overlap with the PST/EST time zones.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop Django-based web features and background jobs using Python, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, etc.
  • Work with large data sets (supported by Data Engineers) 
  • Write tests and debug programs with effective, scalable code
  • Improve the functionality of existing systems
  • Assess and prioritize feature requests
  • Coordinate with other team members (product and customer-facing) to understand user requirements and provide technical solutions

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a full-stack developer
  • Extensive experience with Django 3x and the latest version of Python
  • Familiarity with a wide range of Python libraries (like Celery)
  • Skilled with SQL databases, specifically PostgreSQL, and related features like Full-Text Search
  • Nice to have some experience with other open source data-related components, like ElasticSearch and Airflow
  • Prior experience with open source web infrastructure components, like Memcached and Redis, is desirable
  • Working experience with cloud environments, including AWS and Heroku, is nice to have
  • Prolific knowledge of large data sets and pipelines is desirable
  • Experience with machine learning tools is preferred
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (like JavaScript and HTML5) is nice to have
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills
  • Desire to learn new technologies and a team spirit
