Job description

An industry-leading shipping company specializing in small international and domestic moves spanning up to 300 miles is looking to hire a Full-stack Developer. As a developer, you will support the development of the internal tooling and build out new public-facing applications to improve the customer experience. The company utilizes experts to combine high-quality packing and crafting services from private owners and corporate companies. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with an experienced team and the flexibility to work autonomously while developing quality solutions. This is a full-time, long-term role that requires a minimum of 4+ hours overlap with EST.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance the internal tooling for the sales and customer service staff to assist customers and improve their workflows
  • Build out new customer-facing web applications to improve the customer experience and communication with vendors
  • Collaborate with the development and support teams on new feature implementations and bug fixes based on feedback and requirements from stakeholders and application users
  • Monitor exceptions and performance using monitoring tools such as AppSignal and DataDog
  • Debug production exceptions as they arise
  • Work through the backlog of bug fixes and feature requests and track ticket completion within Jira and Bitbucket

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of practical experience with Ruby on Rails
  • 1+ year(s) experience working with client-side Javascript libraries such as React or Vue.js
  • Working knowledge of Redis based background job queues such as Sidekiq or Resque
  • Experience working with an agile workflow
  • Basic knowledge of SQL query syntax
  • Understanding of the concept of Docker and containers
  • Proficiency using Git and git toolings such as GitHub or Bitbucket for code branching and versioning
  • Knowledge of Google Maps & other API integrations is nice to have
  • Experience working with AppSignal application and exception monitoring
