Job description

A market-leading web security company helping organizations gain full control of the cloud and web is looking for a Staff Software Engineer (Secure Web Gateway engineer). As an engineer, you will join the team as a key member and contribute to supporting the products, architecting, and designing scalable cloud data planes. The company is trusted by Fortune 100 companies and has raised over $740mn from top investors. The company is spread across several locations including Santa Clara, San Francisco, Seattle, Bangalore, London, Melbourne, and Tokyo. This job presents an opportunity for the selected candidate to join a rapidly-growing global team of business leaders, cloud builders, networking, and security experts in developing lasting smart cloud security solutions. The role requires at least 6 hours of time overlap. Candidates based in North America, Latin America, and Eastern Europe will be preferred.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop features on the cloud data plane
  • Use advanced data structures and build sophisticated key management algorithms
  • Create services that inspect various network protocols 
  • Carry out real-time content analysis to provide security
  • Analyze deep inspection of traffic in near real-time
  • Work on features like DLP and threat protection

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of industry experience building high-performing services
  • Experience in network and web security technologies (firewalls, web security, IDP / IPS, DNS-based security, etc.)
  • Sound knowledge of TCP, SSL, and HTTP protocols 
  • Proficiency with HTTP proxy 
  • Proficient in C/C++ and Python
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture – multi-threading, CPU scheduling, memory management
  • Knowledge of algorithms and data structure to implement Real-time inline data processing
  • Familiarity with Linux at a systems level
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills using debuggers like GDB and tools like Valgrind
  • Proponent of TDD a big plus, knowledge of various unit testing frameworks
