Job description

A Silicon Valley-based startup that offers solutions to the world’s top Biopharma and Medtech companies is looking for a Staff Back-End Developer. The developer will work using agile practices and lead other developers while working closely with designers to take wireframes from conception to implementation. The company focuses on accelerating regulated digital health innovation for high-value customers through the scalable medical-grade platform. Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop new Java/Python based microservices on the platform
  • Work on the software design and implementation on a cloud-based platform 
  • Comprehend, plan, and partake in the architecture of end-to-end products, including services, mobile, and web applications
  • Deliver transparent, succinct, and well-written technical design documents
  • Work hand-in-hand with the test team for software verification and the software and systems engineering to transform software-based requirements into well-detailed specs
  • Implement services with predefined software frameworks and base guidelines
  • Lead and participate in design workshops to facilitate and articulate modeling and architecture principles
  • Lead a team of software engineers to achieve and build ground-breaking products
  • Examine others' work (code, design) and offer guidance to ensure a consistent implementation
  • Involve modern technologies and best practices in the software design
  • Address troubleshooting issues and undertake data profiling/analytics activities

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • Strong understanding of the software design/architecture process
  • 8+ years of experience in Java and Python programming
  • 2+ years of experience working in microservices in a cloud environment such as Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with GRPC, REST, SQL, and NoSQL databases
  • Core competency in metadata model-driven software systems and object-oriented software design
  • Track record of experience with tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes 
  • Experience with unit and integration testing
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills to write technical documentation at a quality level to be submitted to regulatory authorities
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to operate with autonomy with some required oversight and direction 
  • Conversant with Agile development methodology
  • Familiarity with the healthcare industry and data privacy regulations is a plus
  • Proficiency working with HL7 FHIR standard, software FMEA process, and API is an added advantage 
  • Ability to thrive in a startup environment
