Job description

A US-based company that has developed virtual digital payment cards to make online transactions, is looking for a Senior Node Back-end Engineer. The engineer will help the existing team to bring an initial-traction stage API to a higher capacity, more extensible, and more reliable stage. The company’s technology allows customers to utilize cryptocurrency efficiently through secure, temporary virtual cards. The engineer will have the unique opportunity to work closely with a team of high-caliber engineers, designers and product managers to build high-quality, innovative solutions.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide feedback on technical proposals from other engineers on the team
  • Build API integrations with financial institutions and crypto exchanges to help the company’s mission of facilitating payments with crypto
  • Help set the architectural foundation for the API and support the month-over-month increasing transactional volume
  • Write unit tests, integration tests, and e2e tests
  • Manage technical debt and risk
  • Take technical ownership for the testing and performance plans for the assigned projects
  • Design the back-end work needed to complete the epic, and communicate that design proposal for review (for more complex epics)
  • Ask technical questions that may impact user experience

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
  • Prolific experience in Node.js, Nginx, MySQL, Git, AWS RDS, EC2, VPC, S3, and Elastic Beanstalk
  • Prior experience with memory management including garbage collection, event loop and asynchronous processing, clusters and worker threads
  • Working experience with an APM (e.g. New Relic, Data Dog)
  • Experience with Typescript and containerization would be preferred
  • Experience with at least one CI/CD software is desirable (Jenkins, Gitlab, or Teamcity)
  • Experience in resolving production incidents
  • Prior experience with designing epics
  • Sound knowledge of at least one logging tool (e.g. Kibana, PaperTrail, etc.)
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written as well as verbal
