Job description

A US-based company that helps VC-backed hardware and software startups claim their rightful money back from the IRS is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer. The developer must be capable of thriving in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment. The company's relentless dedication to saving founders money is a revolutionary step towards fundamentally reshaping the US's economic landscape. This role requires some overlap with the PST time zone. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the establishment of the applications infrastructure
  • Partner with product teams to ensure the underlying platforms and services required for the products are ready to scale
  • Contribute to ensuring the availability and providing a holistic view of the company’s engineering system health
  • Measure and optimize system performance to deliver an exceptional customer experience
  • Boost the team’s technology and processes as the company scale and iterate rapidly
  • Advocate for core security and design principles

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • 2+ years experience building and maintaining production systems as a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer
  • Proficient with Google Cloud or AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Sound expertise in infrastructure automation toolings such as Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
  • Solid understanding of maintaining monitoring and alerting systems 
  • Technical proficiency in Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript
  • Ability to drive technical decisions along with a firm footing in solving problems for customers and the business
  • Capable of succeeding in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across multiple functions, including Engineering, Product, Design, IT, and Operations
  • Ability to work independently and communicate with ease 
  • Nice to have prior experience with Incident Management
  • Familiarity with Typescript is desirable
  • Experience with stewardship of SOC2 compliance processes is preferred
  • Nice to have experience hosting and monitoring a production React/Express application
  • Enthusiasm for startups, finance, accounting, and taxes
