Job description

A U.S.-based company that has invented one of the largest mental health and coaching startups in the world is looking to hire a Senior Site Reliability Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for implementing sustainable methods for monitoring, managing, and scaling the platforms and services. The company is led by an experienced team of behavioral scientists, talent management strategists, and consumer product experts with a passion for helping people become the best version of themselves. It requires an overlap with the U.S. time zones.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with members of the engineering team to prioritize service level objectives (SLO) 
  • Leverage lean startup and agile methodologies 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to breakdown non-functional requirements into discreet and meaningful iterations that can be quickly implemented
  • Utilize Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment infrastructure to speedily prototype and scale ideas
  • Work as an operational maintainer to manage the on-call rotation for the engineering squad
  • Actively triage or respond to incidents as they surface 
  • Build processes, procedures, and technology that result in service level indicators (SLI) that align with the service level objectives
  • Solve problems and be ready, willing, and able to dive into logs, stats, and other various platform telemetries 
  • Identify potential performance, scale, and stability issues before they become bottlenecks
  • Participate in life-changing work in a fun, inventive, and soulful culture

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, partly in a startup environment
  • Recent and relevant experience with compliance and security regulations and processes
  • Alignment with the mission of enabling self-driven behavior change
  • Ability to succeed in a remote work environment
  • Proficiency in Python automation, Kubernetes, and Terraform
  • Nice to have some experience with AWS
  • Willingness to participate in regular on-call rotations 
  • Experience identifying and establishing meaningful service-level indicators and objectives
  • Experience developing in a high-level programming language (e.g., Python, Ruby, JavaScript) 
  • Experienced in Agile product development processes (SCRUM, Kanban, Lean Startup, etc.)
  • Advanced level experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) technologies
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Impressive track record of maintaining a high bar of quality, stability, and availability
