Job description

A U.S.-based company that is building a platform for close interaction to assist developers in the creation of APIs, is looking for a Release Support Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for defining and polishing the tech stack while making use of open-source tools, generalizing product-specific code, and/or developing creative solutions to issues that the team encounters. The company provides integration with version control systems, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and popular API management platforms. The company has managed to secure more than $430mn in funding so far.

Job Responsibilities:

Create and put into use new tools and scalable frameworks to speed up the organization's release workflow and enable hundreds of engineers to write code more effectively
Organize the use of and/or creation of scalable infrastructure to enhance the caliber of products and the efficiency of engineering
Actively partner with Engineering Leaders, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to ship services and tools that significantly improve developer productivity and overall quality and performance across the tech stack
Drive strategic efforts, encourage the use of new or improved frameworks, find possibilities for service layer abstraction, and be a key player in advancing engineering excellence
Provide technical direction to the overall architecture and design, as well as actively mentor through extensive code reviews and paired programming
Manage requests from various squads and communications with the bigger organization (therefore TPM expertise)
No active development of any features or improvements is required but spend some time supporting various squads in release activities
Manage simple development chores like branch merges in a sizable Git repository, building the project locally (using NodeJS or JavaScript), and using/debugging Circle CI automation

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a Release Support Engineer
5+ years of experience developing infrastructure for products and/or tests
Considerable working knowledge of libraries used in the modern web development toolchain, including Webpack, esbuild, Babel, Mocha, Jest, and Enzyme
Solid knowledge of Java, JavaScript, DevOps, and TypeScript
Strong background in CI/CD and Agile development, employing tools like GIT, CircleCI, New Relic, AWS, etc.
Ability to effectively coordinate cross-functional communication to pinpoint tooling requirements, automation gaps, and labor-saving development practices
Prior experience working with front-end development technologies like NodeJS and JavaScript
Extensive experience with Circle CI for CI/CD and Bitbucket for VCS
Ideal to have prior DevOps experience building distributed frameworks, infrastructure, or other development and monitoring tools that are crucial components of production systems
Prior experience making and promoting your own open-source tools is nice to have
Experience with technical publications or authoring related to software development and delivery is preferred
Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
