Job description

A U.S.-based company that is offering specialized learning solutions to help students and users realize their full learning potential, is looking for a Mobile Android Engineer. The engineer will be in charge of mentoring junior teammates and intermediate peers to help them achieve excellence. The company is on a mission to use advanced technology to revolutionize the Edtech industry with their innovative learning solutions. This position requires at least 6 hours of overlap with the PST/EST time zones. The company has managed to successfully secure $106mn+ during their Series C round of funding. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare yourself to learn from some of the top minds in the field
  • Work well in a group setting with other engineers, product management, and design
  • Join a remote engineering team that is highly motivated and cooperative
  • Work together with partners and stakeholders from different teams and departments
  • Write efficient, maintainable, well-documented code that is simple to read
  • To properly verify the validity of your code, create automated tests
  • Build, maintain, and deploy large-scale web applications
  • Focus on quality and use iterative processes to progress from good to excellent
  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation and be responsible for all aspects of your code, from development to deployment through operations

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a mobile/android engineer
  • Extensive experience working with Java, Kotlin, and Jetpack Compose
  • Prolific experience with Room, Dagger, Retrofit, and Gradle
  • Prior experience building an sdk from scratch
  • Solid understanding of continuous integration (CI) preferably through GitHub actions
  • Comprehensive understanding of the MVVM architectural design and the Dagger dependency management
  • Strong app portfolio on the Play Store is preferred
  • Keep up with Google IO to be informed of the most recent best practices
  • In-depth knowledge of Google services, primarily Firebase
  • Solid understanding of AWS Services, such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, Kinesis, etc.
  • Extensive familiarity working with Push notifications, cloud messaging, and API
  • Ability to manage your workload with little guidance
  • Excellent knowledge of OO design, algorithms, and data structures 
  • Ability to master new languages and technologies rapidly when required 
  • Strong pull requests, rebase, merge, and squashing skills for code versioning 
  • Solid track record of developing native apps
  • Prior knowledge of Twilio, Vonage (Opentok), and Lottie is nice to have 
  • Some familiarity with Python or other scripting languages is desirable
  • Work both independently and with others on a fast-paced, dynamic team
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
