Job description

A global automotive company revolutionizing the digital car-sharing marketplace, is looking to hire a Hardware Engineer. The engineer will be leading the new product introduction (NPI) by owning hardware architecture, electrical design, validation  and manufacturing development activities for the company’s products. The company has managed to raise $568 mn so far and is a peer-to-peer rental platform intended to help people to hire a car, also enabling private car owners to rent out their cars in a hassle free manner. The selected candidate must be willing to go the extra mile with executing, launching, and sustaining in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the product development by owning hardware architecture, electrical design and validation
  • Take charge of the hardware design of new products
  • Work with all cross-functional teams (software, product design, industrial design, mechanical design, Autotech etc.) to deliver a successful product to market
  • Validate your design and complete functional verification, signal characterization, power testing, system level testing and certification
  • Bring your design to mass production by defining factory test requirements, assisting in software bring up, traveling on-site to the manufacturer to ensure the design is built and tested successfully
  • Work with and manage suppliers/manufacturing partners to establish mutually beneficial relationships for future product designs
  • Troubleshoot the installations 
  • Sustain and support existing hardware products
  • Support product certifications i.e. environmental, FCC/IC, and PTCRB tests

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Master in EE or ECE, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of hardware design experience
  • Demonstrable programming experience in Embedded Linux, C, and Python
  • Must have strong RF design capability: Cellular, GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth
  • Must have product certifications like FCC, CE, ISED, and PTCRB
  • Must have prior experience taking design from concept through to production
  • Must have strong EE fundamentals with the ability to design high speed digital and or analog systems, including circuit modeling and simulation
  • Prior hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification and manufacturing support
  • Experience with embedded design, processor and memory selection, various communication protocols (especially USB, SPI, I2C and UART), analog design (power supplies, amplifier, A/D, D/A, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with Schematic Capture and Layout tools (Cadence OrCAD & Allegro preferred)
  • Must have some hands-on lab experience in soldering, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and bus analyzers
  • Must have some experience supporting product certification and environmental tests
  • Experience with cars or the automotive industry is preferred
  • Experience with domestic and international electronics component vendors and contract manufacturers is nice to have
  • Experience with electronics manufacturing quality control systems is a must
  • Must have strong networking protocol experience
