Job description

A US-based company building a live chat, customer contact, and communication platform that can be customized is looking for a DevOps Engineer. The selected candidate will evaluate the existing technology used internally and propose actions and processes to improve and expand on it. Businesses can track and communicate with website visitors thanks to the company's innovative technology. During their Seed round, the company has raised $1.8mn+ in funding. This will be a long-term role requiring some overlap with the AEST time zone.

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with the team to roll out DevOps processes and automation tools
  • Cooperate with a team of developers to architect cutting-edge solutions
  • Monitor the systems software and application health to analyze blockages 
  • Develop and implement efficient processes to ensure high availability of systems
  • Establish goals for the team and develop efficient processes to facilitate their collaboration
  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions such as materials, manpower, and time necessary
  • Work closely with the engineering team to maintain hardware and software needed for projects to be completed efficiently
  • Mentor and train recruits regularly and seek to continually improve processes company-wide

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a DevOps Engineer
  • Extensive experience in Linux, Google Cloud, Chef or Puppet, CI/CD, and Node.js
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in NoSQL, Redis, JavaScript, Ruby, Python, and/or Java
  • Nice to have experience in Kubernetes 
  • At least 3 years of experience running large scale deployment
  • Solid understanding of Linux and automation
  • Comprehensive understanding of networking on the cloud such as VPC, firewall, Load Balancers
  • Demonstrable experience in configuration management, including Chef or Puppet
  • Prior experience working with reproducible infrastructure (Infrastructure as Code), deploying tools using Hashicorp Terraform and Hashicorp Packer
  • Proficiency in writing shell scripts
  • Experience working and operating with Google Cloud Platform is preferred
  • Experience implementing and running CI/CD
  • Nice to have experience with Node.js, NoSQL databases, MongoDB, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and Redis in a production environment
  • Experience with Google PubSub, Kafka is a plus 
  • Nice to have experience with containerized applications
  • Demonstrable experience using Hashicorp Vault to manage API keys, passwords, or certificates
  • Prior experience managing remote teams is preferred 
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
