Job description

A rapidly-growing company that is building an open-source core product that is essentially a pluggable, graph-based, cloud development tool, is looking for a Back-end Systems Engineer. The selected candidate will be working closely with the founders. The developer will also be responsible for maintaining and improving the platform's core engine and main plugins. The company’s innovative technology makes it easy to spin up ephemeral testing and preview environments for integration tests, manual QA, and development. The company managed to raise more than €4mn during their seed round of funding. This will be a full-time position requiring some overlap with the European time zone.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the decision-making process, dictate the direction, and architecture of the company’s core application
  • Build developer tooling that helps users overcome challenges
  • Get in close contact with the community, triaging issues, receive feedback, and weave it into the overall product roadmap
  • Keep an eye out for new developments and the future in terms of what technologies to support
  • Work on functionality that interfaces with other cloud-native products such as Kubernetes and Terraform
  • Write efficient, robust, scalable, and clean code
  • Ensure that workflows and pipelines are already set up and the developer experience is smooth

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
  • Demonstrable experience working with Kubernetes, Docker, and other cloud-native products
  • Extensive experience building and maintaining fairly large and complex software systems
  • Nice to have some experience working with TypeScript
  • Passionate about developer tooling and productivity
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment with little to no supervision
  • Team player with excellent collaboration skills
