Job description

A US-based company that is bringing people together around shared interests by allowing them to build, discuss, participate, and debate in thousands of communities, is looking for an Android Engineer. The candidate will work in a high-impact role to execute the technical strategy for one of the world's largest apps used by hundreds of millions of users. The company is on a mission to bring together a sense of community and belonging to everyone in the world through their work on multiple fronts. They have managed to raise more than $1bn during their Series F round of funding. This role requires 3-4+ hours overlap with the PST time zone.   

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create systems and components that deliver speedy, pleasurable experiences to individuals all across the world
  • Implement technical and business goals and develop user-friendly experiences by working cross-functionally and across teams
  • Take part at every stage of the development process, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch
  • Review code and design documentation, as well as product specifications and mockups, and provide feedback
  • Lead a team of engineers who are thoughtful, quick-thinking, and enthusiastic
  • Set and enforce standards to improve developer processes, identify best practices, and teach and mentor team engineers in their professional development
  • Regularly learn and develop your technical and non-technical skills

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 6+ years of experience working as an Android engineer
  • Prolific knowledge and experience working extensively with Java or Kotlin
  • Fundamentals of software engineering are well-understood.
  • In the constrained context of a smartphone, the ability to create data-intensive, highly responsive, and fault-tolerant programs
  • Willingness to learn new software development practices against the grain
  • Dedicated to developing scalable, well-designed software that enhances the lives of people all over the world
  • Build at least one fantastic Android app with a team from start to finish
  • Nice to have some expertise in building high-performance feeds-based or media-rich Android apps
  • Excellent communication skills
