Job description

A well-established company that helps users locate the best, most culturally appropriate material online by fostering the establishment and growth of communities in new markets, is looking for an Android Engineer. The selected candidate will be helping to deliver a high-quality, performant experience for users around the globe. The US-based company brings 400mn+ users around common interests to share, vote, and comment on posts. During their Series F round, the company managed to raise $1bn+ in funding. This role requires 3+ hours overlap with the PST time zone. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build architectures and components for delivering fast and smooth users experiences
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams for executing technical and business strategies and building experiences as per user preference
  • Contribute to the full development cycle starting with technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch
  • Review code and design documents while also providing valuable feedback on product specs and mockups
  • Lead a team of knowledgeable, fast-moving, and motivated engineers
  • Define standards for improving project workflows, recommend best practices, and coach engineers to expedite their professional development
  • Keep learning new skills and improve technical and non-technical abilities

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • Must possess at least 6+ years of experience in Android development
  • Thorough knowledge of working with Java or Kotlin 
  • Firm grasp over software engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to build data-intensive, highly responsive, and fault-tolerant applications to be used on smartphones
  • Willingness to incorporate the latest trends and learn new software development techniques
  • Experience building easily scalable, well-designed software that provides ease of use to the global userbase
  • Proven track record of working on Android apps (at least 1) with a team from start to shipment
  • Experience building high-performance feeds-based or media-rich Android apps will be an added advantage
  • Ability to converse fluently in English
