Job description

A US-based company that helps foster the creation and growth of communities in new markets, and helps users to find the best, most culturally relevant content, is looking for an Android Engineer with Media Experiences. The engineer will be responsible for high-impact tasks and will drive technical strategy, architecture, and execution of the platform. The online platform is on a mission to bring a sense of community to people across the world through work on multiple fronts. During their Series F round, the company managed to raise more than $1bn in funding. This role requires some overlap with the PST time zone. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and improve the architectural foundations that support an enjoyable experience
  • Create systems and components that provide people around the world with quick, pleasant experiences
  • Work cross-functionally and across teams to implement technical and business goals and create user-friendly experiences
  • Participate in all phases of the development process, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch
  • Review code and design documentation, as well as product specs and mockups, and provide feedback.
  • Lead a group of thoughtful, quick-thinking, and enthusiastic engineers
  • Set and set standards to optimize developer processes, promote best practices, and assist engineers on the team in their professional development by coaching and mentoring them
  • Learn and develop your technical and non-technical skills on a regular basis

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 6+ years of relevant experience as an Android engineer
  • Extensive experience working with Java or Kotlin 
  • Sound software engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to embrace the challenges while building data-intensive, highly responsive, and fault-tolerant apps in the constrained environment of a smartphone
  • Willingness to go against the grain and learn new software development techniques
  • Experience developing scalable, well-designed software applications
  • Nice to have some experience building high-performance feeds-based or media-rich Android apps
  • Excellent communication skills
