Job description

A well-established social platform that brings millions of people together through their common interests and building communities is looking for an Android Engineer. The engineer must have experience building high-performance feeds-based or media-rich Android apps. The social network platform enables users to post content along with remarks and vote on the content posted by others. The company has managed to raise more than $1bn in funding so far. This role requires some overlap with the EST time zone. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build data-intensive, highly responsive, and maintainable apps for smartphone
  • Design architectures and build components that foster smooth experiences for users globally
  • Work with cross-functional teams to execute on technical and business strategy
  • Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch
  • Review code and design docs, give feedback on product specs and mocks
  • Lead a team of fast-moving, and motivated engineers 
  • Advocate for standards and best practices that improve developer workflows
  • Provide direction and guidance for engineers and team members to further their professional development
  • Continuously learn and improve the team's technical and non-technical abilities
  • Develop scalable, well-designed software
  • Experience building at least one Android app with a team from start to shipment
  • Ensure that the mobile moderation serves the unique needs of moderators and converting rich experiences into mobile-friendly features

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 6+ years of relevant experience as an Android engineer
  • Sound software engineering fundamentals 
  • Prolific experience with Java or Kotlin
  • Prior experience working on apps with hundreds of thousands to millions in terms of users
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to buck trends and learn new ways to build software
  • Bilingual with English communication skills
