Android Engineer

A fast-scaling OTT platform that offers services to users in 17+ languages is looking for an Android Engineer. The developer will drive the feature development for the platform’s well-renowned apps for smartphones and tablets. The company’s world-class streaming technology ensures the best possible video content at the highest quality is available to users across the globe. The platform has secured more than $225 mn worth of funding so far. This is an exciting opportunity for developers to work for a well-established firm while quickly climbing up the ladder. This role requires some overlap with the IST time zone.

Job Responsibilities:

• Influence and build individual features and products
• Bring in best practices and patterns that for the engineering lifecycle 
• Take ownership of continued efforts to scale the mobile app development across engineering 
• Provide valuable insight on how the team can refine their processes and tools to support additional contributors in architecture and code
• Be responsible for the end-to-end product quality, from development to maintenance of core app frameworks to provide a more reliable and delightful experience
• Create prototypes of new ideas and explore new technologies at the forefront of mobile technology

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• At least 3-10 years of experience in Android mobile applications development
• Proficiency in the Android architecture, framework, Android SDK, Core Java, Android Studio IDE, and Android debugger
• Hands-on experience in building mobile applications and mobility solutions – native applications
• Expert in UI components & controls; Action Bars, Widgets, Fragments, etc.
• Solid expertise in basic components of Android: Activity, Services, Intent, Broadcast Receiver, Content Provider, etc.
• Good working experience on web service integration ( REST, JSON, XML) & cloud technologies - AWS, GAE, and GCM
• Broad knowledge of a range of mobility areas such as enterprise mobility and mobile applications in various domains like Retail, VAS, Media, BFSI, Healthcare, Social Networking, E-commerce, etc.
• Experience in using analytics, location and social APIs, MDM, payment gateway, SMS gateway, media content transcoding, cloud integration, and APM tools
