1. HyperText Preprocessor (PHP)
PHP is the most popular server-side scripting language for creating websites worldwide. The PHP programming language powers about 78% of all websites. Being that popular, PHP is a must-have for WordPress developers to create scalable web applications and websites.
2. CSS and HTML
HTML and CSS are essential to land the best remote WordPress developer jobs. Even if you're only interested in web development, you've probably learned the basics of HTML and CSS.
3. JavaScript
When you wish to make a theme or plugin interactive, you'll need JavaScript. JavaScript, often known as the client-side programming language, is one of the most widely used computer languages. It's also an essential WordPress developer skill. Apart from this language, familiarity with one or two JS libraries and frameworks, such as Angular and Vue.js, is recommended.
4. Bootstrap
A successful WordPress website relies heavily on coding. However, coding each website from scratch takes a long time, and you may miss the deadline. As a result, you must master Bootstrap, a framework that includes a collection of standard HTML components such as the Navigation Bar, Breadcrumbs, Forms, Modals, Carousel, and others.
5. MySQL
MySQL is a database technology, as you may know. With some MySQL know-how, you can establish yourself as a renowned WordPress back-end developer. It's preferable if you can customize the MySQL database and troubleshoot PHP and MySQL issues. It is a valuable skill to get hired for remote WordPress developer jobs.
6. Version control
It is a mechanism for keeping track of every change you make in your project and other details. You don't have to look for and alter the code; the tools will do it for you. You can also return to the version before the alterations with a single click.
7. Web frameworks
They can be used to speed up the web development process. You can develop websites that are both high-performing and code-free. Bootstrap, React, Laravel, Foundation, Semantic UI, and UIKit are some front-end frameworks you can employ. These frameworks are compatible with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
8. Gutenberg block building
One of the most common requests for WordPress developers is to create custom blocks. It was impossible before Gutenberg. Other platforms will soon use custom-made blocks. Gutenberg can be used to develop React.js websites. This powerful tool can be used in any area of WordPress development.
9. Building tools
Web development takes a long time; even simple operations like code compilation and optimization takes a while. Therefore, you must build tools to skip these time-consuming tasks and focus on more vital responsibilities. The rising knowledge among business owners is another reason to learn how to build tools. People are looking for professionals with project management skills and experience so that the development project doesn't take an eternity and the quality remains consistent.
