Job description

A U.S.-based company that has created a platform to assist tourists in locating the most affordable bus and rail tickets around North America and Europe is looking for a Senior Front-End Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for putting their own code on production servers and performing unit and integration tests. The company provides the most efficient way to compare travel options and buy tickets for over two million routes online. This will be a long-term, full-time role that requires some overlap with the US time zone. The company has managed to raise close to $8 mn in funding. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Aid with the creation, development, enhancement, upkeep, and troubleshooting of the full public web presence
  • Build simple features and self-perform minor bug fixes
  • Create more robust features, and work with the front-end and back-end engineers
  • Participate in strategic planning, advance the web app's technical road map, and lead the rest of the tech team in consensus building

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • Comprehensive knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Familiarity with CSS preprocessors, such as Sass and Less
  • Proficiency in one or more JavaScript front-end libraries or frameworks – React is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in one or more application state management libraries such as Redux or Flux
  • Familiarity with one or more unit- or integration-testing tools like Jest, Ava, Puppeteer, or Cypress
  • Familiarity with REST API interaction and Node.js
  • Ability to build pixel-perfect implementations from design wireframes and storyboards
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Expertise in one or more JavaScript build tools like Webpack, Rollup, or Parcel is a plus
  • Web internationalization/localization (i18n/l10n) and accessibility (a11y) best practices is nice to have
  • Knowledge of Docker and AWS cloud services is a plus
  • Familiarity with GraphQL is nice to have
  • Knowledge of CI/CD/pipeline tools such as Jenkins or Rundeck is a plus
