Gender equality is still a distant goal in the tech industry. Even though there are strategies and companies are amping up their effort to hire women for important roles. We still have a long journey ahead.
As per a report from McKinsey (2019), women account for 48% of entry-level jobs but only 38% are promoted to managerial positions. In fact, the number is inversely proportional to the seniority level.
It’s rather unfortunate that certain industries and fields are still considered only “suitable” for a particular gender. But the marked shift in trends is slowly but surely enabling women to make their marks in IT.
Now is a good time as any to strategize and make efforts to diversify your workforce.
