Job description

A rapidly-growing company developing an innovative travel app that makes travel recommendations using predictive analytics is looking for a Senior Scala Back-End Engineer. The selected candidate will collaborate with the teammates to improve their knowledge of various cloud operations. The company is tapping into the power of game-changing technology to help users discover pocket-friendly traveling options. They have managed to securely raise $600mn+ in funding so far. This role requires 6-8+ hours of overlap with the PST time zone. 

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teammates to improve their understanding of AWS, GCP, and other cloud operations
  • Set code and performance standards by reviewing code and participating in discussions
  • Create unique user experiences and own vendor integration microservices
  • Work with a DevOps mindset that requires you to put what you've built into action
  • The microservices architecture, including monitoring and alerting systems, should be evolved and maintained
  • Deliver your first code in an agile manner
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of people to foster growth by providing and receiving feedback

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 6+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
  • Must have experience with Scala
  • Strong competency in building and managing multiple external API integrations
  • Professional experience developing data-heavy platforms or APIs
  • AWS or GCP experience is nice to have
  • Possess solid analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in leading industry techniques and technologies 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Eagerness and inquisitiveness to investigate and answer complex questions based on data
  • Core knowledge in building and managing back-end systems and delivering scalable user experiences
