Job description

A U.S.-based company that is providing climate risk analytics and converting complex climate research into useful data, is looking for a Senior Developer/Application Architect. The selected candidate will be responsible for planning and optimizing infrastructure for the cloud with high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability in mind. Utilizing analytical tools and processes that are future-focused and rigorous, the organization helps its clients manage, reduce, and disclose climate risk. The company has managed to secure more than $85mn during their Series C round of funding. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and conceive scalable, secure web applications that span the front- and back-end tech stacks
  • Design and execute authentication and authorization procedures to safeguard the privacy, accuracy, and accessibility of sensitive data
  • Develop and build data engineering solutions, such as data pipelines, ETL procedures, and data storage systems utilizing Snowflake, in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • To convey complex information in a simple and understandable way, use engaging data visualizations and interactive dashboards
  • Apply geospatial data analysis and visualization methods to reveal spatial links and patterns
  • Throughout the whole software development lifecycle, including requirement gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance, offer technical leadership and direction
  • Keep abreast of current trends, industry best practices, online application development, cloud operations, authentication and authorization, data engineering, data visualization, geospatial analysis, and Snowflake-related technologies

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 6+ years of relevant experience as a software developer or as an Application Architect
  • Prolific experience working with Python, AWS, and Snowflake
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript and Kubernetes
  • Extensive working knowledge of the Python programming language and its related frameworks, like Django, Flask, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience in implementing a variety of authentication and authorization mechanisms, including JWT, OAuth, and OpenID Connect
  • Detailed knowledge of data engineering principles, preferably with Snowflake, including data pipelines, ETL procedures, and data warehousing
  • Familiarity with the principles and patterns of web application architecture, such as MVC, RESTful APIs, and microservices
  • Substantial experience with Redux, Cube, or a similar framework, as well as expertise in designing enterprise-level web apps
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile development approaches, CI/CD pipelines, and version control platforms like Git
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability and intuition to weigh trade-offs, work on proof-of-concept implementations, and develop proposals for technical architecture recommendations
  • Familiarity with React and Angular is nice to have
  • Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written
