Job description

A U.S.-based company developing an online social platform that enables users to connect with each other and build communities is looking for an SDET Lead Engineer. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the technical team to design and maintain workflows and scalable testing tools that produce high-quality results for all supported languages. The company is on a mission to bring a sense of community and belonging to users across the world. The company has managed to raise $1.2 bn+ during their Series F round of funding. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and improve test automation frameworks, tools, and procedures that are specialized to localization, such as UI and snapshot testing
  • Define the unit, integration, and end-to-end testing vision for the i18n engineering organization
  • Initiate process workflows that make use of manual and automated quality assurance to guarantee good quality across all supported languages
  • Examine the opportunities and weaknesses in the localization test strategy, paying particular attention to how it will support the planned language roadmap for right-to-left and Chinese/Japanese/Korean (CJK) languages
  • Develop techniques for quickly locating and prioritizing defects that impair localization
  • Facilitate platform audits online and on mobile to determine changes needed for the forthcoming language roadmap

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as an SDET or as a software engineer
  • Extensive experience writing, executing, and monitoring automated test suites for the web using technologies like Selenium, WebDriver.js, Mocha, Chai, Jest, Cypress, and Phantom.js
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD process and quality checks in the workflow
  • Demonstrable experience working with QA methodologies for web and mobile applications releases
  • Ability to describe linguistic challenges, cultural questions, and concepts to stakeholders
  • Experience designing and building scalable, automated test frameworks, tools, and processes for mobile (iOS and Android) applications is desirable
  • Nice to have some experience in software localization, translation, or linguistics
  • Proficient communication skills in verbal and written English
