Job description

An established online grocery delivery platform designed to connect users to local stores and supermarkets is looking for a DevOps Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. The engineer will work with the team and be responsible for building and maintaining the cloud infrastructure platform as a product used by the engineers. The company provides over 3,000 products to customers at very affordable prices. They have raised over $662 mn in funding so far with operations across multiple cities. Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and operate a highly available foundational infrastructure service in the cloud environment
  • Develop self-service tools that enable developers to execute their work in a more efficient manner 
  • Provide a solid cloud governance model to leverage the maximum cloud potential 
  • Work closely with the DevOps support team to help in resolving issues with the platforms 
  • Improve the quality of the platform and its processes to reduce the operational burden
  • Collaborate across teams to keep the platform secure and compliant
  • Manage the operations of the SaaS vendors as part of the platform, such as Cloudflare, Spotinst, Atlassian, Sendgrid, etc.
  • Maintain and execute technical projects and migrations
  • Design and implement infrastructure management policies and grow engineers technically
  • Perform necessary research and development for larger technical changes and build alignment for technical decisions within the team and across teams 
  • Ideate new initiatives to improve the overall DevOps culture

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3 years of experience with complex, highly scalable cloud-based systems
  • Solid expertise in cloud cost management and public cloud providers like AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Proven track record working with tools in the areas of Infrastructure as Code (such as Terraform, CloudFormation), orchestration and configuration management (such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.), Key/Value stores (such as Consul, Etcd, and Vault), job schedulers (such as Jenkins, RunDeck, etc.)
  • Excellent skills in Golang, Python, Bash, or other scripting languages
  • Experienced in operating at least one open-source data store (such as Postgres, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, etc.)
  • Experience with scalable networking technologies and web standards (like REST APIs, web security mechanisms)
  • Expertise in solving problems and working with the team to resolve large-scale production issues
  • Knowledge of containers and container orchestration (Docker swarm, Kubernetes, etc)
  • Experience with communication protocols like gRPC, GraphQL, etc.
  • Experience with back-end, UI/UX frameworks, and database administration is a huge plus
  • Understanding of industry standards of compliance and security is nice to have
