Job description

A high-growth company that builds scalable systems and works at the intersection of higher education and technology is looking to hire a Core Software Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for onboarding new university partners into the data ecosystem, along with evaluating and developing integrations with new data systems. The company has designed, built, and managed some of the best online higher education programs for both undergraduate and graduate studies while driving innovation in a sector that values tradition. This will be a nice opportunity for candidates to expand their skills set and contribute efforts in broadening access to high-quality higher education in the digital age.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the team and other engineers with expertise in batch data processing, ETL, data warehousing, and data quality management 
  • Enhance and widen custom Python data analysis libraries, reliably and efficiently managing millions of records 
  • Perform exploratory analysis of new data sources and develop proofs of concept for data pipelines 
  • Bring more university partners up to speed, implementing complex enrollment and learning systems into usable data feeds 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant Python development experience 
  • An ability to work with Linux and Linux shell scripting 
  • Strong relational database skills and experience writing SQL 
  • Prior working experience with Python data analysis libraries (Pandas, Numpy) 
  • Preferred additional qualifications: 
  • Demonstrable skills working with 3rd party ETL tools such as Talend, Stitch, or Fivetran 
  • Proficiency with AWS and GoLang development experience 
  • Knowledge of Apache Airflow or similar scheduling tools 
  • Core competency in AWS technologies including ECS, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, API Gateway, and DocumentDB is nice to have
  • Skilled at managing infrastructure as code using AWS CDK or similar tools
