Job description

A U.S.-based company operating as the world’s largest retailer of musical instruments and studio gears is looking for a Cloud Data Architect. The selected candidate will be responsible for modernization and migration to a cloud data platform. The company has established a network of account managers and engineers who have direct access to the greatest manufacturers in the world. This will be a long-term, full-time role that requires some overlap with the IST and PST time zone.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and construct a dependable, scalable data infrastructure that uses cutting-edge privacy and security measures to protect data
  • Create solutions that are scalable, secure, low latency, resilient, and affordable to enable predictive and prescriptive analytics throughout the enterprise
  • Create/Architect frameworks that support unsupervised continuous training models and operationalize machine learning models through serverless architecture
  • Inform a variety of internal and external stakeholders of data-supported results
  • Be responsible for modernization, converting to a cloud data platform, etc.
  • Build pipelines for real-time and batch data ingestion utilizing best practices
  • Take part in technical decision-making and work with smart colleagues
  • Review code and implementations, and provide insightful criticism to assist others in creating better solutions
  • By offering advice based on knowledge and research, you can influence technological direction and technology selection

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 7+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • Hands-on experience working in a public cloud environment and on-prem infrastructure
  • Specialty in Columnar databases like Redshift Spectrum, Time Series data stores like Apache Pinot, and the AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with in-memory, serverless, streaming technologies and orchestration tools such as Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Kubernetes
  • Experience in AWS Certified Big Data specialty is nice to have
  • Experience designing and implementing AWS big data and analytics solutions in large digital and retail environments is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in online transactional (OLTP) processing and analytical processing (OLAP) databases, data lakes, and schemas
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Data Lake technologies and operational experience of Kinesis/Kafka, S3, Glue, and Athena
  • Experience with any of the message/file formats: Parquet, Avro, and ORC 
  • Design and development experience on a streaming service, EMS, MQ, Java, XSD, File Adapter, and ESB-based applications
  • Experience in distributed architectures such as Microservices, SOA, RESTful APIs, and data integration architectures.
  • Knowledge of Big Data Stack (Spark, spectrum, Flume, Kafka, Kinesis, etc.)
  • Understanding Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery is a plus
  • Proficiency in English
