Job description

A fast-growing company that has formed a partnership with other international digital giants to fight online child exploitation and abuse, is looking for an AWS Database Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for applying security best practices to prevent unwanted access and potential breaches. The company's goal is to create an effective, scalable, and safe AWS-hosted data lake that will make it easier to build, train, and implement text-based classifiers and models meant to counteract online child sexual abuse and exploitation. This will be a part-time position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work on integrating Amazon SageMaker Ground Truth to give quickly and accurately labeled data and Amazon Comprehend to quickly remove PII and other sensitive information from the data when the initial dataset is supplied
  • Create and implement strict access controls to guarantee that, depending on their function and requirement, only authorized individuals can interact with the data lake
  • List the organizations that are allowed to take part and create a procedure for interested parties to apply for access
  • Create a data lake environment for data storage using AWS
  • After setting up a basic data lake and adding an open dataset, go back to AWS to have more discussions
  • Calculate the costs to scale the data lake over the next N years using the proof of concept

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as an AWS Database Engineer
  • Extensive experience working with AWS and Data Engineering
  • Strong team management and time management skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
