Find answers to common questions about finding job opportunities at Turing

What are next steps?

Complete your profile here. It takes less than 5 minutes. Once submitted, we’ll reach out when there’s a project that matches your expertise.

How long does it take to get started?

Some participants start right away, while others within a couple of weeks. It depends on when we have a project that’s the right fit, but we’ll always work to place you as quickly as possible.

What type of work will I be doing?

Each project is a bit different, but most involve writing test questions to evaluate AI models, scoring model outputs, and crafting edge cases to push model limits and break them.

How many hours do I have to work per day and are there set hours?

There are no minimum hours and no set schedule. The work is fully flexible—you choose when and how much to contribute. Even on fast-moving projects, you can determine the hours that work for your schedule.

Can I work with Turing if I have other work engagements (research, teaching, etc.)?

Yes. Most PhD candidates who work with us balance this alongside their existing obligations. The flexibility and strong hourly pay make it a compelling option.

How much will I get paid?

Compensation varies by project, but most pay between $50–100 per hour. You’ll discuss the specific rate with our team when you begin.

Do I have to share proprietary data?

No. We never ask for data from your lab or individual research. Instead, projects focus on evaluating AI-generated outputs based on your field expertise. See further details below.

What is Turing seeking from my expertise?

Turing seeks your personal expertise, insights, and domain knowledge. We are looking for widely-accepted principles in your field, theoretical knowledge, and general industry best practices and methodologies.

What is Turing not seeking from my expertise?

Turing is not looking for confidential or proprietary information from any employer or university, trade secrets or internal company or university data, specific client information or case details, or any information that would violate NDAs, employment agreements or other confidentiality obligations.

Why should I get involved?

Working with Turing allows you to share your general expertise and knowledge to help train AI systems, monetize your professional knowledge and experience, and contribute to advancing AI capabilities in your field.

Am I obligated to work with Turing if a project comes up in the future and I’m no longer available to work?

No. Regardless of the reason (whether it be commitments from school, research, or otherwise), if a project is looking for you to work on it in the future, you are not obligated to do so. We’ll reach out to see if you’re available and it’s up to you to decide.
