Job description

A venture-backed, data aggregating and analyzing start-up that helps financial institutions make more informed decisions, is looking for a Senior Data Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for applying data mining techniques and statistical analysis to build data solutions. The company has raised a total of $2 mn in funding and acquired some of the largest insurers as paying clients. This role is well-suited for those who would like to collaborate in tackling one of the most difficult challenges facing insurers around the globe.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the CTO and other team members to build the next version of the product 
  • Expand methods for ensuring the validity and quality of the company’s datasets
  • Help develop systems to accurately monitor the impact of releases 
  • Produce high-quality results by leading or contributing to cross-functional projects
  • Contribute code to the production systems ·        
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes 
  • Design and implement pipelines that impact multiple teams across the company
  • Bring new engineering ideas and analytics processes to help improve processes
  • Be part of hiring and help the team to grow

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of Data Engineering and Data Modeling experience 
  • Good experience in writing and maintaining the ETLs which operate on a variety of structured and unstructured sources
  • Experience in large scale distributed data processing
  • Working knowledge with Unix or GNU/Linux systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Java, Python, and Clojure
  • Strong knowledge of AWS
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL Databases
  • Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse and ambiguous environment
  • Working knowledge of data maintenance and deployment in Apache Storm, Apache Spark, HIVE, etc. is a big plus
