Job description

The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering the best supervision and architectural guidance across systems and applications by leveraging extensive knowledge and skills in a variety of application development areas. Job Responsibilities:

  • Add value to the ETD Clearing Technology software development efforts and drive application development projects to meet the ETD Clearing Book of Work
  • Architect, evaluate, incorporate, and own technical solutions that meet engineering standards
  • Provide an enhanced client experience and a competitive advantage by utilizing best-of-breed technology
  • Design, develop, and test resilient, stateless, scalable, and reusable services and APIs while adhering to development standards using the most recent frameworks and libraries
  • Drive the platform modernization roadmap by creating reusable software components in a cloud-native microservices architecture
  • Drive the UI/UX roadmap by creating high-performing Angular screens using the most up-to-date in-house frameworks and libraries, with a focus on design patterns, reusability, code quality, and secure coding practices
  • Offer technical oversight and architectural guidance across systems and applications by utilizing in-depth knowledge and skills across multiple Applications Development areas
  • Assess software and vendors, and develop proof-of-concept prototypes with emerging technologies
  • Investigate and comprehend best practices for front-end development and DevOps based on industry standards
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advanced application programming knowledge, and ensure that the application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
  • Assess risk appropriately when making business decisions, demonstrating regard for the firm's reputation
  • Demonstrate initiative, drive, and a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous process improvement
  • To understand the problem statement, drive application development activities by collaborating closely with stakeholders, product managers, and business analysts
  • Create automated build, test, and deployment pipelines using the most recent DevOps tools
  • Build reusable, shared libraries and components with cross-functional teams
  • Participate in weekly rotational ETD clearing platform support
  • Manage technical debt, operational risks, and vulnerabilities proactively to improve the application risk profile
  • Keep application documentation up to date, set standards, share best practices, and challenge the status quo
  • Mentor/coach junior team members and enforce governance in terms of application development and testing standards, as well as best practices
  • Continuously improve code quality

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 10+ years of relevant experience as a software developer
  • Working knowledge of the Docker/OpenShift/Kubernetes platform for designing and building cloud-native apps with a microservices architecture
  • Application development experience using Java, SQL, REST APIs, Kafka/ MQ/ TIBCO/Solace
  • Experience with distributed Cache (Gemfire/ Redis) and FIX protocol
  • Experience with application security standards and protocols like Oauth, TLS, SSL, SSH, SFTP, and PKI
  • Expertise in creating web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular
  • Working knowledge of managing stakeholders globally and in an agile context
  • Proficiency in English
