Job description

A US-based company on a mission to revolutionize the television viewing experience with the power of reliable data is looking for a Senior Data Engineer. The engineer will be in charge of developing tools and frameworks to support self-service analytics with data scientists, data analysts, and other business partners. The company leverages first-party data to assist viewers in engaging with relevant media and offers advanced advertising and measurement services. They have managed to secure $44mn+ during their Series C round of funding. This will be a full-time long-term position requiring 4+ hours overlap with the CET/PST time zone. 

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create new data pipelines to assist ad campaign measurement
  • Existing business processes should be automated and essential datasets should be shown
  • Analyze and improve the scalability, stability, and efficiency of the core systems' data collection, storage, and retrieval procedures
  • Instrument existing code and create services that expose the state of pipeline operations and datasets to internal users  
  • Improve observability and supervision of production processes
  • Concentrate on the performance of individual jobs in processing pipelines, including the algorithms that power them, as well as the tradeoffs and bottlenecks that affect their runtime and resource consumption
  • Mentor data team members and help improve their software engineering skills
  • Exhibit excellent coding and software design best practices

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a data engineer
  • Prolific experience working with Python
  • Extensive experience with Data Science/Analytics
  • Prior experience working in a remote setting
  • Nice to have some knowledge of AWS, Apache Spark, Jenkins, and Airflow
  • Familiarity with Ansible, Terraform, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and InfluxDB is desirable
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and analyze data
  • Strong mathematical inclination is desirable
  • Prior experience with Apache Spark or similar large-scale data processing frameworks is nice to have
