Job description

An early-stage startup building a next-generation social platform for people to have fun and make friends is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer. As an engineer, you will join the team as one of the early hires and have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the quality and reliability of the product. The platform combines voice and video chat with music, allowing people from all over to talk, build on ideas, share life experiences, deepen friendships, and more. The company has raised over $3.5 mn in funding with the backing of top VCs and Angels in Silicon Valley as well as some leading artists in HipHop. The selected candidate will work as an individual contributor, taking charge of hiring and managing the QA engineering team in this hands-on role as the team grows.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop test plans and test cases capable of analyzing product components & integrated
  • functionality 
  • Verify the behavior of all designed product functions 
  • Define test strategies that include the methodologies, regression analysis, and test code coverage 
  • Identify discrepancies, defects, and assist with root cause analysis
  • Develop test metrics to identify test code coverage, pass/fail rates, and performance metrics
  • Proactively identify areas for product improvement 
  • Work with the product and engineering teams to schedule quality-related improvements
  • Analyze, test, and deliver detailed reports on the product’s overall function

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in Test Methodology: creating, setting up, running, and analyzing QA tests
  • Scripting experience to automate portions of testing where applicable and appropriate
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Previous QA team lead or management experience
  • Ability to be a high powered thought leader who strives to understand the most challenging problems and propose creative solutions
  • Passion for creating high-quality mobile apps
  • Experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Appreciation for cultural diversity, values, teamwork 
  • Prior experience contributing to meaningful social products
