Job description

A fast-growing sports-tech company that is building the next-gen group and self-training experiences for talented soccer enthusiasts is looking for a Lead Mobile Games Developer. The selected candidate will be taking ownership of the company's mobile apps and leading the development team by providing technical leadership to the existing team of developers. The company aims to disrupt and enrich the soccer experience through user-centered technology. During their Series E round, the company raised more than $90mn in funding. This role requires a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision and contribute actively to a team environment.

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to new product development projects that may require or benefit from mobile applications
  • Work as a technical leader for in-house and offshore mobile app development contractors
  • Develop an understanding of a handful of existing Apache Cordova mobile apps
  • Help with technical assessment and prioritize recommendations for resolving issues that may exist
  • Collaborate with engineering SMEs to ensure understanding of hardware and firmware protocols, mechanics, and use-cases to optimize the users’ experience
  • Collaborate with UI/UX Designers to optimize wireframe models and translate them to optimum user interface implementations
  • Work closely with back-end developers to produce well-architected and high-quality solutions
  • Rework applications to provide optimal performance and user experience
  • Write clean, well-documented code alongside other team members
  • Ensure all code is readable, testable and that technical debt is constantly evaluated and iteratively eliminated
  • Provide technical leadership for offshore mobile application development contractors
  • Develop simple POCs to guide the team in complex technical areas or explore and experiment with new technologies/ideas

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5 years of mobile application development experience
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision as well as contribute in a team-based environment
  • Must be able to lead projects and offshore contractors, preferably following an Agile software development framework like Scrum
  • Deep understanding of mobile application development, including publishing to the Apple App store
  • Deep knowledge of iOS and working knowledge of Android
  • Understanding of mobile app design guidelines on each platform and being aware of their differences
  • Strong knowledge of architectural patterns like MVP, MVC, MVVM, and Clean Architecture—and the ability to choose the best solution
  • Should possess proficiency in ReactNative and JSON development processes
  • Familiarity with Unity and its 3D animation as well as other game engines/framework elements
