Job description

A US-based social news platform, home to thousands of communities and fostering authentic human connections, is looking for an iOS Engineer. The engineer will join the team to scale various strategies, operations, architecture, and execution for one of the largest sites in the world. The platform brings over 500 million people together each month through their common interests and a growing family of diverse people sharing the things they care about most. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in one of the key pillars for the team, contributing as a brand new hub for creators. The role requires a minimum of 4-5 hours overlap with the PST/EST time zones.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute product and business strategies
  • Develop novel products and features that users will love
  • Contribute to the full development cycle involving the technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch
  • Review code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks
  • Lead a team of passionate, fast-moving, and motivated engineers
  • Set and define standards that improve developer workflows and implement best practices 
  • Inspire and train engineers on the team to grow and develop professionally
  • Learn consistently and improve your technical and non-technical abilities

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of experience as a software engineer 
  • Track record of developing user-facing iOS mobile native applications at scale
  • Expertise in Swift and Objective-C
  • Proficiency with multithreading and performance optimization techniques for iOS
  • Additional knowledge around GraphQL, REST, and HTTP basics
  • Strong organizational skills and capable of prioritizing tasks to keep projects on schedule
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, self-directedness, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments
  • Passion to build and thrive in ambiguity and even failure
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with teams in a fully remote environment 
  • Expertise in discussing complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences
