Job description

A US-based company building educational tools in a simple end-to-end content management system is looking for a Full-Stack Back-End-Heavy Engineer. The engineer will be working closely with the CTO and the rest of the team to deliver first-class solutions to their users. The platform makes learning to write a fun activity, teaches student journalism, and helps them lead mentally healthy lives through behavior change. This is a great opportunity for developers to contribute to a relevant task and build highly performant applications. 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop an API to serve a web app for students which allows them to express their creativity and emotions while learning how to write
  • Build new features, improve current ones, and make sure the application is performant, reliable, and secure at scale
  • Implement cutting-edge open source technologies to solve problems that matter
  • Write clean code and work in a fast-paced environment with sprints and agile methodology
  • Proactively contribute ideas and experiences by giving critical feedback and taking responsibility
  • Give highly-quality performance and provide reliable user experience to users around the world

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a full-stack or back-end engineer
  • 3+ years of experience with Laravel and REST
  • Demonstrable experience working with PHPUnit, Dompdf, Telescope, AWS S3, and Various API integrations
  • Experience with highly performant and reliable API
  • Experience implementing third-party APIs and SSO
  • Prior experience building and deploying products/features/software used by real people
  • Prior experience working in TechEd, education, kids, or SASS startup is desirable 
  • Nice to have some experience with TechEd SSO like Google Classroom or Clever
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Fluent in conversational and written English
